Agartala: Dec 09: On the afternoon of 09/12/2024, a joint operation was conducted by Agartala GRP (Government Railway Police) and Agartala RPF (Railway Protection Force) based on secret information. The operation took place aboard the Humsafar Express, where a thorough search was carried out. During the search, 4 unclaimed bags were discovered at two separate locations inside the train: one in coach B-3 and the other in coach B-5, both hidden inside the electric panel areas.
Upon inspecting the bags, a total of 519 bottles of Eskuf, an illegal substance, were recovered. As the bags and the items inside were unclaimed, they were immediately seized by the authorities after observing all necessary legal formalities. The total destination market value of the seized Eskuf is approximately ₹2,07,600.
Following the seizure, Agartala GRP has initiated an investigation to determine the owner of these illegal goods and to identify the individuals responsible for attempting to smuggle them. The operation was part of a broader effort to curb the illegal trafficking of such substances and to ensure the safety and security of train passengers.
The collaborative effort between Agartala GRP and RPF highlights the effectiveness of joint operations in combatting illegal activities. The authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the origin and intended destination of the seized Eskuf bottles. Further legal action is expected to follow as the investigation progresses, and steps are being taken to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
