Agartala: Nov 20: In separate anti-drug operations, the Government Railway Police (GRP) achieved success by arresting four interstate drug traffickers. Acting on a tip-off, they were able to seize 4.15 kg of cannabis and 200 bottles of cough syrup (Escoff).
GRP Station Officer Tapas Das reported that three individuals were arrested yesterday at the Agartala Railway Station while attempting to smuggle cannabis. Among the arrested were two women, who had been trafficking small amounts of cannabis over an extended period. Based on confidential information, the GRP apprehended them at the railway station. The arrested individuals were identified as Pooja Devi, Reshmi Kumari, and Paresh Kumar, all residents of Bihar. A search of their belongings revealed 4.15 kg of cannabis, with an estimated market value of around 48,000 rupees.
In another operation the same night, a drug trafficker was arrested for bringing 200 bottles of Escoff cough syrup into Tripura from another state. The police will seek remand for both groups of arrested individuals in court today.
