Agartala, July 27: In a significant operation, 23 Bangladesh nationals were apprehended at the Agartala rail station on Saturday. Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Agartala, confirmed the arrests today.
The operation was a coordinated effort by the GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies.
Das said that acting on a specific tip-off, the agencies laid a trap at the rail station, leading to the successful detention of the individuals.
The detained nationals were reportedly about to board a special train, intending to leave the state.
The GRP have registered specific cases against them under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, the Passport Act, and the Foreigners Act.
Today, all 23 individuals will be produced before the court, with the police seeking a remand for further investigation.
This operation underscores the strict measures being taken by security forces against infiltration and human trafficking. The collaborative efforts of various agencies highlight their commitment to maintaining security and order in the region.
