Agartala, July 7:Alongside celebrations across the nation, Tripura marked Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, symbolizing harmony and devotion.
The annual Car Festival was celebrated with great fervor at Agartala’s ISKCON temple, drawing hundreds of devotees, including Chief Minister Manik Saha and Social Welfare and Social Education Department Minister Tinku Roy.
The event saw the idols of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra brought out of the temple, a key ritual of the festival.
Chief Minister Saha who inaugurated the festival also performed the ‘Pahind Vidhi,’ a symbolic ritual of cleaning the path for the chariots.
Speaking to reporters, Saha highlighted the significance of the festival, stating, “Jagannath is the Lord of the World, and during Rath Yatra, the Lord comes out of the temple to meet devotees and resolve their problems.”
He further emphasized the global observance of the Rath Yatra and urged devotees to bless Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders to continue advancing the development of India and Tripura.
The celebration was marked by devotees chanting hymns and playing traditional drums as they pulled the chariot carrying the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.
The procession sent the deities to their maternal aunt’s residence, following a long-standing tradition.
The vibrant atmosphere underscored the festival’s essence of unity and devotion.
