Agartala, November 19:Swabhiman, the LGBTQIA+ collective in Tripura, organized the “Queer Pride Walk” for the second time in Agartala.
The event, started from the Umakanta Academy ground, and served as a vibrant celebration of diverse identities, enabling individuals to embrace their true selves while challenging societal taboos.
Participants, comprised of members from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, along with their supporters, made a colorful statement by walking with rainbow flags—a symbol synonymous with LGBTQ social movements worldwide.
The organizers emphasized that the primary goal of the Queer Pride Walk is to honor and celebrate individuals identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
Additionally, they aim to foster awareness within society, encouraging a shift away from stigma and prejudice associated with the LGBTQ community.
What adds a unique dimension to this event is the participation of prominent personalities from different states across India. Their involvement highlights the growing solidarity and support for LGBTQ rights on a national scale.
As the colorful march weaves through the streets of Agartala, it not only symbolizes pride but also serves as a catalyst for broader conversations on acceptance and understanding.
Covering around five kilometers the culmination of the walk, at the Vivekananda stadium marks the collective step towards a more inclusive and tolerant society.
