Agartala: Sept 06: Poor people and ordinary earners are very worried about the rising price of rice in the market.
Along with the price of locally produced rice, the price of different varieties of rice also hike, including Basmati rice from abroad, has gone up. Due to the unbridled increase in the price of locally produced rice, the price of foreign imported rice has also increased significantly in the last two months.
Consumers also complain that there is extreme speculation in the market with locally produced rice. That is why the price of rice is increasing every day. Even though the price of rice has been increasing uncontrollably for the past two months, there is no monitoring by the state government. On Wednesday, the administration conducted an operation in Maharajganj Bazar Chaal Patti. A shop found irregularities and closed the shop. Besides, the administration ordered them to stop selling due to price irregularities in another shop. Officials of the Food Department said that such operations will continue.
