Thousands of Muslims from across Tripura congregated at the Gedu Mia mosque in Agartala on Thursday for morning prayers of Eid-ul-Adha.
The prayer assembly commenced at around 8:30 AM, led by Maulana Abdul Rehaman, the esteemed clergy of the mosque, who recited the prayer with deep reverence.
Eid-ul-Adha, a widely celebrated Muslim festival worldwide, revolves around the significance of sacrifice.
It commemorates Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah’s command. It is a time for Muslims to demonstrate their faith by slaughtering animals, such as cows, camels, and goats, in the name of Allah. The meat is then divided into three portions to be shared among the poor, family, friends, and themselves.
During the festivities, Muslims warmly embraced one another, exchanging greetings of peace and love, emphasizing the importance of spreading harmony in society regardless of religious differences.
While Eid-ul-Adha holds special significance for the Muslim community in Tripura, people from other faiths also participate in the celebrations throughout the state, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and unity.
