Agartala: Dec 12: Narcotics are entering the state from outside the state by using the railways. Allegedly, the criminals continue to do such illegal activities.
Acting on a tip-off on Sunday, the Agartala GRP was able to seize a large quantity of narcotic drug Phensidyl Cough Syrup from a BP coach of the Kanchenjunga Express at around 3 am at Agartala railway station.
GRP OC Sanjit Sen said that ten cartons of Phencidil were recovered. This includes a total of 1595 TS coffee bottles. He said that this operation was conducted on the orders of GRP Superintendent of Police. The narcotic Phencidyl was packed in five cloth bags.
A large quantity of intoxicating cough syrups were recovered from them after searching them. A young man named Prasenjit Debnath has been arrested. The OC said that the GRP police have received the case and investigated it as per the NDPS section. The police believe that the rest of the accused will also be able to be caught quickly. Now it remains to be seen how quickly the police can nab the accused in the smuggling ring.
