Agartala: April 30: Following the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat election held on April 19, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) containing citizens’ votes were securely stored in the strong room. Specifically, the Rai Bandi EVMs from 14 assembly constituencies found their place within the confines of Umakanta School’s strong room.
Dr. Vishal Kumar, the Returning Officer for the West Tripura Lok Sabha Constituency, personally inspected the security arrangements at the Umakanta Strong Room on Tuesday. His assessment revealed that the strong room operates under a robust three-level security system.
In addition to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Tripura Police and the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) share responsibility for safeguarding the EVMs. The strong room remains under constant surveillance, with 60 to 70 closed-circuit cameras (CC cameras) ensuring round-the-clock monitoring.
Representatives from various political parties take turns overseeing the strong room, ensuring transparency and accountability. All necessary arrangements have been made to accommodate party representatives during this critical phase. The eagerly awaited vote counting is scheduled for June 4, with preparations already in place.
