Agartala, April 16: Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer, Puneet Agarwal, oversaw the commencement of postal ballot voting at the Sishu Bihar Higher Secondary School in Agartala, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
He assured that arrangements were in place for a fair and peaceful election process.
The service is available for essential service workers and began yesterday, continuing until tomorrow. Agarwal emphasized the extensive preparations undertaken since November-December to ensure the integrity of the election process.
Out of the state’s 28,60,287 voters, 14,63,526 are set to vote in the first phase, with 12,800 poll duty personnel eligible for postal ballots.
Additionally, security measures have been bolstered with 84 companies of Central Armed Police Forces deployed to reassure voters.
Meanwhile since March total seizure worth Rs 25 crores have been made including drugs, liquor and cash.
