Karimganj,April:11 In a significant development just before the elections, a massive amount of cash has been seized in Nilambazar, Karimganj. The cash, amounting to 22,95,500 INR, was confiscated from a Bolero vehicle with registration number AS 08 A 0614 during a routine checkpoint inspection by the police in the Keutkona area under the jurisdiction of Nilambazar Police Station.
The incident unfolded when the driver of the Bolero attempted to flee the scene upon noticing the police. Following a brief chase, police managed to apprehend the vehicle. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large sum of cash hidden inside a bag. The Election Commission’s flying squad promptly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation into the source and intended use of the seized money.
The driver, identified as Abdus Subur from the Rupargul area, has been detained by the Nilambazar police for further questioning. The police are continuing their interrogation of Abdus Subur to uncover more information regarding this significant cash seizure.
