Agartala, April 7: In a bid to promote voter awareness and ensure maximum participation in the electoral process, Tripura’s Chief Secretary J K Sinha flagged off a cycle rally – “Cyclothon for Democracy, ride to vote” rally on Sunday.
Enthusiastic cyclists from across the region joined the event, organized by the District Election Officer of West Tripura district.
CEO Tripura Punit Agarwal, and RO of West Tripura parliamentary constituency, Bishal Kumar participated in the cycle rally along with Olympiad gymnast Dipa Karmakar, the state icon of the election department, graced the rally, which commenced from the Umakanta Academy Ground in Agartala.
The event, held under the banner of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation, carried the theme ‘Ride to Vote’.
Chief Secretary Sinha expressed hope that the cyclothon would serve as a catalyst for democratic participation, encouraging more voters to peacefully exercise their franchise and contribute to the nation-building process.
Echoing similar sentiments, Dipa Karmakar urged voters to turn out in large numbers, accompanied by family and friends, to cast their votes.
Biswajit Saha, a member of the Agartala Cycholic Foundation, emphasized the importance of viewing voting as a celebration rather than a chore, encouraging people to embrace the electoral process with enthusiasm akin to festive occasions.
The “Cyclothon for Democracy” rally underscores Tripura’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and participatory democracy, inviting citizens to actively engage in shaping the future of the nation through their votes.
