Agartala: April 01: In a significant development, the Churaibari police apprehended five individuals attempting to smuggle marijuana across state borders. The suspects were caught during a routine vehicle check at the Churaibari checkpoint.
Earlier today, officers stopped a suspicious small bus with license plate AS01AFC 2535, en route from Dharmanagar to Karimganj. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered two youths, identified as Subhash Kumar and Rakhab, in possession of 12 kilograms of marijuana.
Following their interrogation, the police intercepted a second bus bearing the number AS24C 6171, also traveling from Dharmanagar to Karimganj. Three additional individuals were arrested from this bus, and 7 kilograms of marijuana were seized.
The authorities have filed a case under the NDPS Act and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. While drug trafficking remains a persistent challenge, the Tripura Police continue their relentless efforts to combat the menace and maintain law and order in the region.
