Agartala: March 8, 2024: The Dharmanagar police station apprehended four Rohingyas who had entered Tripura illegally with the assistance of a Bangladeshi broker. The detainees are Mohammad Arab (22) from Camp No. 1 in Cox’s Bazar, Samia (20) from Camp No. 1 in Cox’s Bazar, Ismatara (17) from Camp No. 14 in Hakim Para, Isha (15) from Camp No. 14 in Hakim Para.
These individuals reportedly paid Abdullah, the Bangladeshi broker, 30,000 taka each to facilitate their illegal entry into India. Their intended destination was Hyderabad.
Struggling to survive, they resorted to selling the meager provisions of money, rice, and lentils they had received in the camp. With great difficulty, they scraped together the required funds and crossed the Bangladesh-India border under the guidance of the broker. Upon their arrest, the Rohingyas tearfully recounted their harrowing journey.
