Agartala, February 27: Pijush Kanti Biswas, former president of Trinamool Congress in Tripura, made a significant political move by joining back to his old party Congress on Tuesday at Delhi. His decision to switch parties was announced in the presence of key Congress leaders, including the general secretary (Org) of the All India Congress Committee, K.C. Venugopal, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and Pradesh Congress in-charge Girish Chodankar.
Biswas, who is also a prominent lawyer in the High Court of Tripura, previously held the position of state president of Congress before resigning and joining the Trinamool Congress in December 2022.
His return to the Congress fold marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape and is expected to impact the upcoming elections.
