Agartala, February 10:The decision of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) to discontinue the option of writing Kokborok language answers in Roman script during the state board’s secondary and higher secondary exams has sparked criticism from opposition parties CPIM and Congress.
The CPIM and Congress have voiced their disapproval of the state government’s unilateral decision to restrict the option to write in Bengali script only, leading to growing concerns over the potential breakdown of law and order.
Meantime Opposition TIPRA Motha students organization TISF in protest has announcement of an indefinite road and rail blockade across the state, slated to commence from February 12.
Jitendra Chowdhury, MLA and CPIM State Secretary, Tripura, expressed support for the demands put forth by the Tripura Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) and Tripura Students Federation (TSF). However, he disapproved of resorting to road and rail blockades, holding the state government accountable for the escalating situation, which he suspects may have hidden political motives of the ruling BJP and RSS.
Meanwhile, Asish Kumar Saha, Congress state president, Tripura, alleged the state government’s responsibility for the entire ordeal.
He affirmed Congress’s stance in favor of reinstating the option to write in the Roman script for Kokborok language, opposing the government’s decision to restrict it to Bengali script only.
