Agartala: Nov 30: Border Security Force is one of the Central Armed Police Forces of India raised on 1st December 1965, when 25 Battalions of State Armed Police of bordering States were embodied for ensuring the security of India’s borders. This glorious Force was charged with guarding India’s land border during peacetime and various active roles during the outbreak of War. Today BSF has emerged to be the world’s largest Border Guarding Force and India’s First Line of Defence, which participated in all major border conflicts with Pakistan, Internal Security and Counter Insurgency Operations during the nascent years of its raising, Force was also tasked to assist Mukti Vahini for Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. It is on record that BSF was mobilized before the actual war had broken out during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. The contribution of the Border Security Force in safeguarding National Security during War and Peace is praiseworthy and always recognized by the Government at all levels and the general public.
The State of Tripura has also played a vital role during the Bangladesh Liberation war with many sacrifices to mark utmost zeal and pride. There are many stories of BSF personnel belonging to the State of Tripura, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, at the same time, hundreds of stories of BSF personnel belonging to other parts of the country are also there to sing the valour of their supreme sacrifice during the service of the nation at Tripura state as well as their commitment to national security, patriotism and high order of professionalism.
International Boundary all along the State of Tripura measuring 856 km is being guarded by the BSF with a high level of zeal and motivated Bordermen deployed in Tripura to deliver their best in adverse humid tropical weather and challenging conditions. Field formations under Tripura Frontier have launched various operations and special drives against interstate and cross-border smuggling and contrabands including narcotics particularly Ganja and Yaba Tablets. During the year till 30th Nov 2022, BSF deployed on the Tripura border seized contraband/smuggled goods worth Rupees 27,53,56,439/- in addition to the destruction of 28,08,100 numbers of Ganja plants cultivated in 726.244 Acres in joint operations with the Forest Department and local Police. Further, apprehended 163 Indian nationals, 138 Bangladeshi nationals and 59 Rohangias on the International Border.
BSF Tripura is also celebrating the 58th BSF Raising day all over the state by conducting various programs like Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Rozgar Mela, Ayushman CAPF Yojana, Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, Cycle Rally, Civic action programs, Medical camps, Screening of BSF/Patriotic Movies, Run/Rallies involving school children, Debate competitions, Culture programs, School visits by Senior BSF officials, Display of BSF band at public locations, Felicitation of widows/NOKs of BSF Martyrs and Retirees, Conduct of Sports activities, Dog show by BSF Dog squad, Pre-Recruitment training to border youths etc. were organized by this Frontier and the under command Sectors/Battalions with dignity and pride.
BSF is maintaining good relations with its counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Both the Border Guarding Forces have raised the level of understanding and friendship through various levels of talks, meetings and joint operations to prevent trans-border crime along the international border.
