Agartala: Dec 16: A day after two top commanders of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura’s (NLFT) Biswamohan faction were arrested in West Tripura, the state police arrested three top cadres of the insurgent outfit’s Parimal Debbarma group from North Tripura district in the wee hours this morning.
Outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) self styled commander Parimal Debbarma, 47, was arrested at Mizoram in March, 2021, after Tripura Police tipped them about his location based on local inputs. However, part of his faction is learnt to be still active in hideouts of Bangladesh.
Speaking to our reporter , Deputy Inspector General (Intelligence) Krishnendu Chakravertty said, “In a major success during wee hours of December 16, three top cadre of NLFT’s Parimal Debbarma group were arrested including Baileng from Khasnam para, which is a Reang settlement area near Bhandarima in North Tripura district”.
The arrested trio was identified as Ganaram alias Baileng and Rai Bahadur Reang, both hailing from Bhagichandra Para of Anandabazaar village in North Tripura district and Rai Taingha Reang from Khasnam Para which is a Reang settlement area in the same district.
Among them, Baileng is a dreaded insurgent and a self-styled major of NLFT’s Parimal Debbarma group. Rai Bahadur Reang is a relatively new joinee in the insurgent outfit and was learnt to have joined NLFT (PD) in July this year. Rai Taingha Reang was learnt to be a harbourer who sheltered the insurgents.
Police recovered three magazines, three mobiles and NLF receipt book and notice along with a Chinese pistol from them. Besides, 3600 rupees in Indian currency and 679 rupees in Bangladeshi currency were recovered.
Naturally, this incident proved that the Riang refugee camp has become a hideout for terrorists. A section of the Reang refugee camp is in deep conspiracy by directly supporting the militancy to create an atmosphere of unrest in the state. Blueprints for large-scale sabotage are being created from this Reang refugee camp. Recently, the security administration of the state has been shaken due to the arrest of NLFT militants from different parts of the state.
