Agartala, December 10:Tripura’s first Sanskriti Haat or Cultural Haat, embarked its journey on Sunday dedicated to promoting, exchanging, and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Bengali community.
The cultural hub, organized by Bangla Sanskriti Boloy – Tripura chapter, was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, is situated at Senpara of Debaram Gram Panchayat, Paschim Noabari, on the outskirts of Agartala.
The establishment of this cultural haven was made possible through collaborative efforts with Vishwa Sanskriti Baloy and Bangla Sanskriti Baloy.
Scheduled to be open every Sunday afternoon at 2 PM, the Cultural Haat offers a platform for a diverse array of activities. Alongside cultural performances encompassing music, songs, dance, and drama, visitors can indulge in various traditional sports, art forms, and culinary delights.
Expressing his appreciation during the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Saha highlighted the significance of the initiative.
He emphasized that the Cultural Haat would serve as a bridge, allowing the new generation to experience, appreciate, and adopt traditions that are at the brink of extinction, thereby passing them on to the next generation and preserving them.
Local MLA and former Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ratan Chakraborty, expanded on the broader definition of culture, stating that it goes beyond music and arts.
He asserted that cultural heritage is something inherited from previous generations. Initiatives like the Sanskriti Haat, according to him, play a crucial role in shielding the new generation from negative influences, such as drugs, by instilling pride in their rich cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by dignitaries, explored various stalls showcasing traditional food and art forms, while also enjoying the diverse cultural program on display.
The Sanskriti Haat stands as a promising initiative to foster cultural richness and community bonds in the region.
