Agartala, November 20: The Department of Information and Culture is making efforts in various ways to make the theater industry more prosperous in the state. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the 11-day state-wide drama festival at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan Theater No. 2 this afternoon.
On this day, the Chief Minister said, drama is a powerful social medium. Drama can play a significant role in pointing society in the right direction.
The chief minister said that drama is the mirror of life. The reflection of the society emerges in the play. Drama plays a major role in creating awareness among people about various issues.
He said that the history of drama in the state is very old. The Department of Information and Culture is making efforts in various ways to make the theater industry more prosperous in the state. He expressed hope that high-quality actors and actresses will come out of this eleven-day theater festival.
In the President’s speech, Subrata Chakraborty, Vice Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee, said that just as life is full of variety, there are also many varieties in drama. Drama is an art where every aspect of culture has an opportunity to apply. It is the responsibility of each of us to connect the next generation with the practice of theatre. Groups associated with drama have a major role to play in this regard.
