Agartala, November 12: Only five days after NIA had arrested 21 human traffickers part of an international gang engaged with smuggling of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis from across the border into Tripura, on Saturday once again, based on secret information, the police from bordering Sabroom station joined with the BSF 96 battalion have apprehended 14 Bangladeshi nationals.
Preliminary investigation suggests that they crossed the border through the Baishnabpur area of the India-Bangladesh border today to move to southern Karnataka state.
They entered India and spent the night at the residence of one Kraisu Mog and Athubai Mog in the Baishnabpur area.
The BSF and Sabrum police personnel rushed to the residence and after detaining the 14 Bangladeshi nationals including four female, equal number of male beside children and toddlers, and brought them to Sabroom police station.
Along with them, three human traffickers named Kraisu Mog, Athubai Mog, and Khoka Tripura, residing in the Baishnabpur bordering area, have also been arrested.
In addition to these human traffickers, several others are believed to be involved in this human trafficking incident, and the police have initiated an investigation to apprehend them.
These Bangladeshi nationals are facing charges for illegally entering India.
The Sabroom police have initiated an investigation to uncover the motives behind their border crossing. However, the primary investigation indicates that they crossed the border to visit Bengaluru where they have their contacts.
The Sabrum police are working to determine the underlying reasons behind this incident.
