Agartala, Nov 26: Even after passing of one year of the withdrawal of the three Farm Law by the Narendra Modi government under pressure of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) — a pan-India umbrella body of farmers — on Saturday to mark the second anniversary of the farmers’ year-long agitation, and along with the whole country in Agartala also hundreds of farmers from Tripura took part in a march to the Raj Bhavans to demonstrate their protest as they alleged “breach of assurance” by the Union Government on the pending demands of farmers.
The protest march started from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here and after covering the streets of the capital city they were stopped by police forces near Gandhi statue are as they proceeded towards the Raj Bhavan to submit their memorandum to the President of India through the Governor demanding the central government to immediate fulfilment its promises made to the agitating farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha out Delhi a year ago and on the basis of which the year long agitation was withdrawn.
The protestors to mark the second anniversary of the agitation against the now-repealed three central farm laws took out the protest rally as they alleged that the union government has betrayed the farmers as even after a year of negotiations the commitments were forgotten.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha, formed in November 2020, is a coalition of over forty Indian farmers’ unions to coordinate satyagragh against the three farm acts initiated in September of the same year.
