Agartala: Nov 16: Several protesters of CPIM women wing, All India Democratic Women’s Association, as well as few police personnel had sustained minor injuries during skirmish in Agartala on Wednesday.
The protesters had blocked the main entrance gate of the Tripura police headquarters as they were raising slogans and demanded for arrest of ruling party supporters who were largely engaged in crime against women.
The protesters viewed that in large number of the incidents the victims or their family members even could not file police complaints as a section of the police personnel were involved with the criminals. The protesters had gathered there to meet the DGP and complain regarding the declining law and order situation in the state especially with increasing crime against women.
Some of the demonstrators had sustained injuries as police tried to take them away and during which few of the security force personnel were also injured.
The protesters complained that despite women police who had gathered to the spot male officers were being used to harass them.
