Manipur: Jul 02: At least three “village volunteers” were killed and five others injured in an exchange of fire with unidentified gunmen in Manipur’s Bishnupur in the wee hours today. The incident took place in Khoijumantabi village late on Saturday night when Kuki Militants attacked the Bunker of Meitei Volunteers.
Kuki militants also opened fire on State Force who tried to flush out Kuki Militants who were involved in killing the Three Village volunteers. Heave exchange of fire was reported between State Force and Kuki militants. Two Bodies have been retrieved from the incident site, the third one was recovered later.
After this incident the National Highway 2 is blocked by the Kuki people.
