Agartala, July 1 :Tripura CPIM demanded for judicial enquiry into the tragic incident of electrocution during Ulta Rath celebration at Kumarghat in Unakoti district of the state that claimed seven lives and injured more than a dozen people three days ago.
Former Chief Minister and CPIM politburo member Manik Sarkar during a press conference in Agartala raised this demand.
He said that a sitting judge of the high court conduct a time bound enquiry into the incident to identify who is responsible for the incident so that legal action can be taken against them.
A day ago a delegation of CPIM leadership under former Sarkar had visited the spot of incident.
The delegation also interacted with the family members of the victims, eyewitnesses, injured people, organizer, officials of the administration and various departments linked with the celebration of Ulta Rath there.
CPIM also demanded for government jobs for a family member of the victims beside the government take the entire responsibility for education of the children in those families and upto higher secondary level.
Sarkar also demanded that the government bear the total cost for treatment of the injured persons till they are completely recovered and returns to normal life.
He urged that taking lessons from recent disasters, the government should take immediate necessary steps for safeguarding and preventing accidents during such roadshow or rallies and by engaging various departments like the PWD, power and other departments.
Along with Sarkar, former Minister Tapan Chakraborty and former MP Narayan Kar was also there.
