Agartala: Nov 15: Supriti Bhattacharya, wife of former education minister Tapan Chakraborty, passed away in a private hospital on Tuesday morning. The body was brought from the hospital to the Ramnagar residence. There opposition leader Manik Sarkar, former minister Manik Dey, Pabitra Kar and other leaders paid their respects. The body was brought from the residence to the CPIM state office at Melarmath. The present leaders offered wreaths at the party office and condolences to the family.
Women’s leader Rama Das said Supriti Bhattacharya was a member of the party’s central committee and state secretariat. She had a very close relationship with this party since the student movement. Then she played a major role in building the women’s organization in the state. She was a woman of unique character with political consciousness, organizational vision and compassion for people. He was under treatment in the hospital for a long time due to physical illness. He died on Tuesday morning. He is of the opinion that his departure will create a lot of emptiness for the party. Later she was taken to Battala crematorium for last rites.
