Agartala: Nov 14: On Monday lone Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman during a press conference in presence of other senior leaders including Szarita Laitphlang AICC incharge Tripura, former MLA Asish said that the demand of TIPRA Motha is ‘not unconstitutional’.With less than four months for the vital Tripura assembly election to go, Congress for the first time openly supported the demand of TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma for Greater Tripraland.
However, Roy added that if it is feasible to further divide Tripura which is a very small state surrounded by Bangladesh from three sides, but there should be some alternative solution for the development of the tribal section of people.He demanded for passing of the 125th Amendment Bill and which is still pending in the parliament.
Roy Barman viewed that there is disparity and disproportionate development in the plains and hills of Tripura and so the son of the soil are aggrieved. He also demanded for direct funding to the TTAADC and more political and economic empowerment of the indigenous section of people.
Alleging massive corruption in the utilisation of the fund collected during the COVID pandemic under under CM Relief Tripura, the Congress leader demand for a time bound Special Audit and publish it in the public domain by the month of December regarding the total money that people had donated and its utility especially in purchasing of medical equipments, beds, setting up of temporary hospitals etc and where these items at present are stored.
Moreover, the Congress leader announced that on coming November 19, the birth anniversary of late India PM Indira Gandhi, Congress in the form of Bharat Jodo Yatra, and which is a great success under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, shall launch similar ‘Padyatra’ across 16 sectors simultaneously under the banner of Bharat Jodo, Tripura Bachao Abhiya and which will be a 10 days program.
