Agartala: Nov 14: Government Degree College of Khumulwng has conducted seven day long NSS special camp here in the GDC conference hall .from 8th to 14th November 2022. On this occasion a large number of NSS volunteers were motivated over the responsibilities towards the nation. During the inaugural programme Hon’ble Minister Shri Sushanta Chaudhury, Minister of ICAT, Sports and PWD (DWS) Department attended as Chief Guest, joined by Dr. Chitrajit Bhowmik, Tripura State NSS officer and Sri Ram Palat, Commandant of CRPF 71 Bn HQ Khumulwng, West Tripura. During the inaugural programme the Hon’ble Minister Shri Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the importance of NSS volunteers in nation building and urged the students to remain open minded about helping the society selflessly. Sri Ram Palat, the Commandant of CRPF 71 Bn HQ stressed on the importance of education in nation building through character building. Dr. C. Bhowmik, the State NSS officer reiterated that the very motto of NSS is “NOT ME, BUT YOU”. Dr. Pranabjit Bardhan Roy, the principal in-charge along with NSS programme officer Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma addressed the august gathering during the inaugural programme encouraging the NSS volunteers to actively participate in the camp. The seven days long NSS special camp conducted many sessions like blood donation camp with the medical team from IGM hospital, various input sessions on career advancement lecture by Sri Daniel Debbarma, importance and opportunities of NSS by Dr. Arun Mukherjee, cleaning drive of Kherengbar CHC Hospital at Khumulwng, role of youth in building the society by Sri Pradip Debbarma, motivational classes on role of women in society by Smt. Maharani Hrangkhawl, health and hygiene lecture delivered by Dr. Surachan Debbarma, medical officer of IGM Hospital and cleaning of adopted village named ‘Joygovind Para’ of the college. These seven day long camp was concluded on 14th November 2022 with the valedictory session chaired by Sri Budhilian Hrangkhawl, Dy. CEO, TTAADC as chief guest and Sri Sanjit Kumar Chakraborty, the panchayat extension officer, Belabari R.D. Block. The valedictory session was accompanied by Smt. Tapati Bhattacharjee, the Joint secretary of teachers’ council, the principal in-charge and NSS programme officer. During the closing address Sri Budhilian Hrangkhawl, encouraged the students to be self-disciplined in preparing their career and work hard in achieving their goals. During the valedictory session, 50 NSS volunteers were given certificates of appreciation. Best two NSS volunteers one each from male and female of the camp were given appreciation during the closing ceremony. The prize distribution ceremony of various events was handed over by all the dignitaries present on the dais. And the valedictory session was conducted with words of gratitude and appreciation by Sri Pradip Debbarma on behalf of the organizing committee of the college. This mega initiation of the NSS special camp has motivated the volunteers and fostered their determination towards the nation.
