Agartala, Oct 28 : Khowai District Magistrate and District Collector Rajat Pant on Wednesday inspected a deep tube well project under the Jal Jeevan Mission and an Anganwadi centre in Kalyanpur block to assess the implementation of government welfare schemes and the quality of public service delivery.
The inspection was conducted in the presence of Additional District Magistrate Abhayananda Baidya, Kalyanpur RD Block Block Development Officer Rajib Bhattacharjee and officials of the concerned departments.
During the visit, Pant inspected a deep tube well established under the Jal Jeevan Mission and reviewed its operational status. He also interacted with the operator responsible for managing the facility to gather information about its functioning and maintenance requirements.
The team assessed whether the infrastructure was operating effectively and contributing to the objective of providing safe and reliable drinking water to households in the area.
The inspection also focused on the implementation of the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative, which aims to ensure access to potable tap water for every rural household.
Officials examined the water supply system and gathered information about its operation, maintenance and delivery of services to local residents. The exercise was intended to assess the scheme’s impact on the ground and identify areas requiring further attention.
Pant and the accompanying officials subsequently visited Totabari No. 2 Anganwadi Centre under Kalyanpur RD Block.
At the centre, they inspected the kitchen, sanitation facilities and other infrastructure, paying particular attention to cleanliness, hygiene standards and the availability of essential amenities for beneficiaries.
The officials also interacted with Anganwadi workers to obtain first-hand information about the centre’s day-to-day functioning, the services being provided and the challenges faced in carrying out their responsibilities.
Discussions covered the implementation of child-centric welfare activities and the delivery of services intended to support children and other beneficiaries.
The field visit was part of the district administration’s efforts to monitor government programmes and ensure that public welfare facilities function effectively at the grassroots level.
Such inspections enable officials to assess infrastructure quality, identify shortcomings and take appropriate measures to improve service delivery, officials said.
The administration aims to ensure that government schemes reach their intended beneficiaries and that essential services, including drinking water supply and Anganwadi facilities, meet prescribed standards.
The inspections also provide an opportunity to assess the functioning of public facilities directly and identify issues requiring administrative intervention to improve service delivery.
