Demonstrating its steadfast commitment towards cleanliness, environmental sustainability and operational health readiness, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps organized a comprehensive educational and awareness drive for troops stationed in Agartala on 29 September 2026 as part of the nationwide Swachh Bharat Campaign.
The day-long initiative aimed to reinforce the core values of cleanliness, personal hygiene and ecological mindfulness among service personnel, integrating environmental stewardship into daily military routine and garrison management.
The event commenced with a keynote address detailing the vision, spirit and national significance of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’. The talk emphasized that cleanliness is an integral component of military discipline, national pride and operational efficiency.
Dedicated interactive sessions were conducted on environmental conservation. Troops were encouraged to remain actively mindful of their daily actions and habits, highlighting how individual choices directly impact the surrounding ecology. Personnel were urged to adopt energy-efficient habits, reduce resource wastage and preserve local ecosystems.
Recognizing that healthy personnel are fundamental to military readiness, a clinical awareness session on Swachhta was also delivered by the Army’s Medical Officer focusing on core operational pillars of Personal Hygiene, Sanitation & Cleanliness among soldiers.
Soldiers were also educated on modern waste management protocols centered around the core principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recharge. Special emphasis was laid on reducing plastic waste, recycling organic materials and recharging groundwater reserves through rainwater harvesting units within military stations. An Army Official when contacted said, “Cleanliness and environmental responsibility are force multipliers that directly contribute to troop morale, health and operational readiness. Through initiatives under Swachh Bharat Campaign, the Spear Corps remains committed to leading by example in preserving our ecosystems and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation across all garrisons.”
