Agartala, September 24: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated a new Urban Polyclinic at AD Nagar, marking another step towards strengthening healthcare facilities at the local level and improving access to treatment closer to residents.
The programme also saw the virtual inauguration of newly constructed Ayushman Arogya Mandir buildings at Radhanagar, Dhaleswar, Jagaharimura, Ujan Abhoynagar and Ramakrishna Shivalaya Ashram.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha said the state government was working to make healthcare services more accessible to people while upgrading infrastructure across different levels of the health system.
The Chief Minister said approximately 1,110 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have so far been inaugurated across Tripura. According to him, the facilities have strengthened access to primary healthcare in both rural and urban areas and enabled people to avail themselves of various services within their localities.
Dr. Saha also pointed to a decline in the number of patients being referred outside the state for treatment, attributing the trend to the expansion of advanced medical facilities and healthcare infrastructure in Tripura.
He cited official figures showing that 555 patients were referred outside the state in 2023. The number fell to 495 in 2024 and 366 in 2025, while 161 patients have so far been referred outside Tripura in 2026.
The Chief Minister said the government would continue to focus on modernising the state’s healthcare system, with infrastructure development ranging from primary care facilities to advanced and specialised treatment centres.
The programme was attended by MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, West Tripura Chief Medical Officer Shankar Chakraborty, senior Health Department officials, elected representatives and other dignitaries.
