**Agartala, September 17:** The functioning of Baramura Nareng Jami High School in West Tripura’s Belbari Block has come under scrutiny after local residents raised complaints about alleged teacher absenteeism and inadequate basic facilities.
Residents claimed that teachers are not consistently available during school hours and alleged that students are sometimes left waiting for classes to start. They said the reported situation is affecting the regularity of teaching activities at the institution.
The school operates under the Inspector of Schools, Belbari.
Alongside concerns over teacher attendance, locals have drawn attention to the availability of drinking water on the school premises. They alleged that students and staff do not have adequate access to the facility, causing inconvenience during school hours.
Residents have called for the education department to verify the complaints through an on-site assessment. They urged the concerned field-level officials to inspect the school and examine teacher attendance, classroom activities and the availability of essential amenities.
The complaints have also prompted residents to seek closer monitoring of the institution. They said regular teaching and adequate infrastructure are necessary to maintain a conducive academic environment, particularly for students studying in tribal-dominated areas.
According to the residents, prolonged shortcomings could interfere with students’ regular studies and have an impact on their academic development.
They have requested the authorities to assess the reported problems and take suitable measures after establishing the facts.
A local villager, speaking to the media, highlighted the difficulties allegedly faced at the school and appealed to the education authorities to intervene.
The residents have sought improvements in drinking-water and other basic facilities, along with measures to ensure teachers remain available during school hours and classes are conducted regularly.
