**Agartala, September 17:** A campus rally organised by Tripura University’s Central Library on Wednesday called for greater engagement with books, academic materials and research resources among students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das participated in the awareness programme along with faculty members, university officials and members of the academic community.
The programme focused on encouraging students to make the Central Library a regular part of their academic routine. Organisers highlighted the facilities available to students and researchers and urged the university community to use them for study, reference and research.
Prof. Das supported the initiative and encouraged students to make more effective use of the library’s resources, the university said.
University Librarian Dr Champeswar Mishra coordinated the rally with the Central Library team. Teachers and officials joined the event and interacted with participants while emphasising the value of developing a sustained reading habit.
The organisers pointed out that library resources can provide students with opportunities to go beyond their prescribed textbooks and syllabus. Access to books, journals and other scholarly material can help them gather additional information, pursue independent study and gain a wider understanding of their respective subjects.
Researchers and scholars were also encouraged to use the Central Library for reference and further academic work.
The awareness programme was aimed at creating a stronger environment for reading and research on the university campus. Organisers said independent learning could complement classroom teaching and encourage students to explore areas of interest beyond their regular coursework.
The rally formed part of the Central Library’s efforts to familiarise students and researchers with its resources and increase their utilisation throughout the university.
The participation of senior university officials and members of the teaching community highlighted the institution’s emphasis on reading, independent study and research as important aspects of academic life.
The Central Library team said it would continue conducting awareness activities to improve knowledge about its facilities and encourage the university community to use its resources more regularly and effectively.
