Agartala turned into a sea of Tricolours on Wednesday as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha led the state-level Har Ghar Tiranga rally, bringing together students, officials and citizens in a spirited display of patriotism ahead of Independence Day.
The rally was flagged off from Ujjayanta Palace and passed through the city before concluding at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, where Dr. Saha visited a photo exhibition on India’s freedom struggle and the national flag.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said the campaign was launched in 2022 following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes. “This is the fifth edition, and the initiative has continued in Tripura since 2022,” he said.
Dr. Saha said the rally was aimed not merely at displaying the national flag but at helping the younger generation understand its significance.
“Every colour of the Tricolour has its own significance, and we must convey this to the next generation, particularly the youth,” he said.
He also said the occasion was a tribute to soldiers of the Army, BSF and others who have sacrificed their lives in protecting the country.
The programme also marked 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, with participants singing the national song and the national anthem before joining the rally.
Ministers, MLAs, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, senior officials and hundreds of school and college students participated in the procession, turning the streets of the capital into a vivid expression of national pride and unity.
