A 22-year-old woman employed at Shantiniketan Medical College in Tripura was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a room at the institution’s girls’ hostel late on Wednesday night, prompting allegations of foul play from her family and triggering a police investigation.
The deceased, identified as Manisha Das, was a resident of Kathaltali Madhuban under the jurisdiction of Amtali Police Station. According to initial reports, her body was discovered hanging in a hostel room under circumstances that have raised several questions.
Family members have strongly rejected the possibility of suicide and alleged that Manisha was murdered. Speaking to the media, her mother claimed that the young woman was often compelled to remain at the institution during nighttime hours, despite her concerns.
Addressing the incident, the principal of Shantiniketan Medical College stated that Manisha had earlier worked as a caretaker at the institution and was currently serving as an assistant in the Examination Cell.
The family has further alleged that Manisha may have become aware of certain confidential matters related to the institution, which they believe could be linked to her death. They have demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.
Following the discovery of the body, personnel from Amtali Police Station, along with a forensic team, arrived at the scene and initiated preliminary investigations. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway and that all possible angles are being examined. Authorities are currently awaiting the post-mortem report and forensic findings, which are expected to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding Manisha’s death.
