**Khowai, June 1:** In preparation for the forthcoming visit of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, a high-level review meeting was held on Saturday at the Conference Hall of the District Magistrate & Collector’s office in Khowai. The meeting aimed to assess preparedness and ensure seamless coordination among various departments ahead of the Union Minister’s scheduled inspection of the India–Bangladesh border in Tripura.
The review meeting was chaired by District Magistrate and Collector Rajat Pant and attended by senior officials, including the Additional District Magistrate (Planning and Programme), Superintendent of Police (SP) Khowai, and representatives from several government departments. During the meeting, officials presented updated reports, status updates, and key data related to border infrastructure, security arrangements, and administrative preparedness.
A major focus of the discussion was the management and security of the India–Bangladesh international border. Officials reviewed existing security measures, infrastructure readiness, surveillance mechanisms, and coordination among various agencies operating in border areas. Special attention was given to sensitive and vulnerable stretches of the border, with departments directed to address any pending issues on a priority basis.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Tripura on June 5 as part of his broader visit to the Northeast region. During his stay, he is expected to conduct an extensive review of the 856-kilometre India–Bangladesh border in the state. His itinerary includes the inspection of ground-level security infrastructure such as barbed wire fencing, surveillance systems, and other measures aimed at strengthening border management.
Shah is also likely to hold meetings with senior officials of the Border Security Force (BSF), state police authorities, and district administration representatives. These interactions are expected to focus on evaluating current security preparedness, identifying challenges, and exploring strategies to enhance border security and coordination among agencies.
Officials noted that the review meeting was an important step in ensuring effective inter-departmental coordination and readiness ahead of the high-profile visit. The Union Home Minister’s inspection is being viewed as a significant initiative to strengthen border management, improve security infrastructure, and reinforce national security along Tripura’s international border with Bangladesh.
