Sepahijala, Tripura: A serious clash broke out between supporters of the BJP and Tipra Motha at Polling Station No. 42 in Ward No. 10 of Kulaichampahaur, creating tension in the area during the ongoing elections.
According to reports, the confrontation erupted following allegations made by Tipra Motha supporters, who claimed that outsiders had entered the polling station and were casting votes illegally. The accusation quickly escalated into a heated exchange between workers of both parties, eventually leading to a violent scuffle near the booth.
Eyewitnesses said the situation became chaotic as party supporters gathered in large numbers, raising slogans and accusing each other of electoral malpractice. The tense atmosphere caused panic among voters, with some temporarily leaving the queue amid fears of further violence.
Tipra Motha representatives alleged that the presence of outsiders was a deliberate attempt to influence the election outcome and compromise the fairness of the voting process. On the other hand, BJP supporters reportedly denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
Local residents expressed concern over the incident, stating that such clashes disrupt the democratic process and discourage genuine voters from exercising their franchise. Many called for immediate intervention by authorities to ensure a peaceful and transparent election.
In response, election officials and local administration acted swiftly to bring the situation under control. Additional security personnel were deployed in and around the polling station to prevent further escalation and maintain law and order.
Authorities have assured that strict vigilance will be maintained, and necessary action will be taken against anyone found violating election norms. Efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy and ensure that the voting process continues smoothly without further disturbances.
