Agartala, April 4:
Several security personnel were seriously injured in a road accident on Saturday while on duty for the peaceful conduct of the upcoming TTAADC elections in Tripura.
The incident took place at Parimal Chowmuhani area in Charilam under Sepahijala district.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred after the police vehicle they were travelling in, reportedly suffered a brake failure and rammed into a lamppost on the opposite side of the road.
The injured personnel were part of a security team led by Sub-Inspector Pritam Datta of Bishramganj Police Station.
The team included troopers of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and other security staff.
Most of the injured sustained head injuries in the impact.
Locals, along with fire service personnel, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
They were initially taken to Bishramganj Sub-Divisional Hospital in a rescue vehicle, where they received preliminary treatment.
Considering the severity of their injuries, four personnel were later referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced medical care.
