*Agartala:*
In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment, the **Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM)** has sanctioned **Rs 7.65 crore** under the **Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY)** scheme for the procurement of **90 vehicles**. These vehicles will be distributed among **Self-Help Group (SHG) Didis** across various districts in the state.
Officials confirmed that the vehicles will be handed over during a **grand ceremony later this year**, marking a key milestone in Tripura’s efforts to enhance mobility and income-generating opportunities for women-led collectives. The initiative is expected to benefit **Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), Village Organisations (VOs), and SHG Didis**, enabling them to expand livelihood activities and improve access to markets and essential services.
The procurement of 90 vehicles in the current financial year aims to create **sustainable avenues for rural women entrepreneurs**, strengthening their capacity to participate actively in the state’s grassroots economy. Under the AGEY scheme, providing transport facilities to SHGs is considered a **catalyst for economic empowerment, community development, and improved connectivity** for rural households.
Ahead of the distribution, the **TRLM state team** conducted a seminar in Agartala with prospective beneficiaries, CLF Didis, and block-level staff. The session detailed the **objectives of AGEY**, operational guidelines, and the responsibilities of SHG members in ensuring the **effective utilisation of vehicles** to maximise benefits.
Authorities highlighted that the scheme is expected not only to **boost livelihood activities** but also to **strengthen the grassroots economy**, promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship among rural women. By enhancing mobility and access to markets, the program seeks to create long-term economic opportunities, contributing to sustainable development and socio-economic empowerment of women-led rural communities in Tripura.
The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth and supporting women as pivotal drivers of rural prosperity.
