In a significant political development in Tripura, as many as **147 families comprising 441 voters** from **Killa ADC Village** under **Bagmama Mandal** formally joined the **Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)** on Tuesday, severing their long-standing association with **Tipra Motha** and the **Communist Party of India (Marxist)**.
The mass joining programme was held amid enthusiasm among local residents, reflecting a noticeable shift in political alignment in the area. The new entrants were ceremonially welcomed into the BJP fold by **State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma** and **local MLA Rampada Jamatia**, who handed over party flags as a symbol of induction.
Addressing the gathering, Bipin Debbarma said the growing support for the BJP in tribal and rural areas clearly indicates people’s confidence in the party’s policies and governance model. He stated that development-oriented initiatives, welfare schemes and inclusive governance under the BJP-led government have inspired many families to join the party voluntarily.
Debbarma also alleged that people in the region had grown disillusioned with the politics of division and unfulfilled promises by other parties. “The BJP believes in development for all, without discrimination. Today’s joining reflects the trust of the people in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the vision of a strong, inclusive Tripura,” he said.
MLA Rampada Jamatia, while welcoming the new members, assured them that the BJP government remains committed to the welfare of indigenous communities. He highlighted various central and state government schemes aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education and livelihood opportunities in tribal-dominated areas.
Several new entrants expressed hope that joining the BJP would bring accelerated development and better connectivity, employment opportunities and improved public services to the village. They said their decision was motivated by the visible developmental work and the party’s outreach at the grassroots level.
Political observers view the development as a setback for Tipra Motha and CPI(M) in the region, and a boost for the BJP ahead of upcoming political engagements. The mass defection has added fresh momentum to the BJP’s organisational expansion in Bagmama Mandal and surrounding ADC areas.
