Agartala: Jan 28: Tripura BJP is contesting the forthcoming general assembly election in the state alone and shall be filing nominations for all 60 constituencies.
This was informed by the party’s state president Rajib Bhattacharjee on his return to the state Friday late night from New Delhi along with other senior leaders.
He said that’s after finalising the list of candidates following meeting of central election committee and parliamentary committee the list has been finalised.
Speaking to our reporter at the MBB airport he said that the BJP candidates list shall be declared on Saturday from Delhi and the party shall be contesting alone.
However, he claimed that talks are still on with the alliance partner IPFT and the talks will TIPRA Motha regarding alliance or seat sharing has failed.
Bhattacharji added that the BJP candidates consist of representatives from various committees including scheduled cast, tribe, OBC, minority and women.
On the joining of a CPIM MLA Moboshar Ali and Trinamool former state president Subal Bhowmik, he viewed the people of the state could not accept the Congress – CPIM alliance and many more are in touch with the BJP.
Other leaders who returned on Friday from New Delhi in a chartered flight are Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, union MoS Pratima Bhowmik, Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, former CM and MP Biplab Kumar Deb, organization secretary Phanindranath Sharma and BJP Tripura election incharge Dr Mahesh Sharma.
