Agartala, November 21:Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday issued a stern warning to ruling alliance partner Tipra Motha party against political violence, stating that his government will not tolerate attacks aimed at intimidating political opponents or disrupting peace in the state.
His remarks came a day after a BJP party office at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), was gutted in an alleged attack by supporters of the ruling alliance partner, Tipra Motha.
Speaking on his return from Bihar after attending the oath-taking ceremony of Nitish Kumar, Saha said those who still believe they can maintain political influence through violence must “leave that path immediately.”
The Chief Minister asserted that police action is inevitable in such cases and criticized what he called the “violent political culture inculcated by the Communists,” claiming that it still lingers in Tripura despite the BJP’s efforts to change the state’s political atmosphere.
He acknowledged that recent dialogues had reduced differences between BJP and Tipra Motha leadership, including party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, but stressed that such acts of violence were “undesirable and unacceptable.”
Saha made these remarks during the second ceremonial presentation of the Chief Minister’s Scholarship for Achievers Towards Higher Learning (CM-SATH), organized by the School Education Department at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Friday.
