Agartala, Nov 12 — The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is gearing up to launch a month-long statewide campaign titled *‘Nayi Chetna’* from November 25, 2025, aimed at combating gender-based violence through grassroots awareness and community participation.
*Nayi Chetna* is a flagship national initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, introduced in 2022 to address gender-based violence by raising awareness, mobilizing community action, and supporting victims through local networks. The campaign emphasizes a “whole-of-government and whole-of-society” approach, bringing together ministries, civil society organizations, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to foster a united stand against gender injustice.
During a preparatory meeting convened by the Ministry of Rural Development on Tuesday, TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma announced that Rs 1.21 crore would be distributed across all districts in Tripura to support the campaign’s activities. The funds will be directly disbursed from the office of the CEO, TRLM, to ensure efficient execution and coordination at the district level.
The campaign will harness the strength of Tripura’s vast SHG network and local governance institutions to organize workshops, street plays, interactive sessions, and community dialogues. It will also extend support services to help survivors of gender-based violence and encourage proactive intervention at the community level.
By promoting awareness and engagement, *Nayi Chetna* seeks to empower rural communities to identify, prevent, and respond effectively to incidents of gender-based violence. The initiative reflects Tripura’s growing commitment to gender equity, social justice, and community-driven transformation.
The launch of *Nayi Chetna* in Tripura is expected to strengthen collective efforts toward building safer, more inclusive, and gender-sensitive rural spaces across the state.
