New Delhi, Nov 3 — In a significant political development, prominent leaders from across the North East are set to announce the formation of a new regional political alliance aimed at fostering greater unity among the region’s major parties. The formal announcement will be made on Tuesday at the Deputy Speaker Hall of the Constitution Club of India, Rafi Marg, New Delhi.
The event will witness the participation of several influential figures, including Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) President Conrad K. Sangma, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarman, former BJP National Spokesperson and Nagaland Minister Mmhonlumo Kikon, and Daniel Langthasa, founder of the People’s Party, Assam. Several other senior political leaders and representatives from various North Eastern states are also expected to attend the press conference.
According to sources, the proposed alliance seeks to bring all major regional parties under one platform to strengthen the collective political voice of the North East. The initiative aims to create a unified front that can effectively negotiate and represent the region’s common interests at the national level.
Pradyot Debbarman has been a key proponent of this idea. In his recent social media live sessions, he frequently emphasized the importance of unity among regional parties to safeguard the socio-cultural, linguistic, and political rights of indigenous communities across the North East. He argued that a united regional bloc could serve as a stronger force in national politics and ensure equitable attention to the aspirations of the region’s diverse communities.
The upcoming announcement is expected to mark a new chapter in regional politics, signaling a move toward collective empowerment and collaborative decision-making among North Eastern states.
