Agartala, August 29:Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday strongly condemned the use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a Congress-led event in Bihar and demanded an apology from senior opposition leaders.
The controversy erupted after a man allegedly hurled derogatory remarks at the Prime Minister and his late mother from a Congress stage during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Vivekananda Township Project at Kaman Chowmhuni here, Dr. Saha said such remarks were “highly objectionable” and reflected the mentality of those leading the opposition parties.
“The use of derogatory words against the Prime Minister’s late mother at a Congress and RJD programme is unacceptable. This shows the mindset of their party leadership. I demand an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav,” Dr. Saha asserted.
He said that the Opposition couldn’t digest that a person from a poor family became Prime Minister and earlier also used derogatory language against PM Narendra Modi but now they crossed the limit.
The incident has triggered a fresh political storm, adding to the ongoing tensions between the BJP and the opposition bloc in the run-up to upcoming elections.
