Agartala, August 11: In a swift operation, West Agartala police arrested three drug dealers red-handed from the bustling Battala market area on Sunday night, recovering brown sugar and dry cannabis from their possession.
SDPO Sadar Deba Prashad Roy said the operation was carried out by a plainclothes team led by West Agartala Police Station OC Rana Chatterjee, acting on specific intelligence inputs. The contraband was seized from a shop during the raid, leading to the immediate arrest of the traffickers.
An NDPS case has been registered against the accused, who will be produced before the court with a request for police remand to facilitate further interrogation.
Police said the arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on the illegal drug trade in Agartala’s busiest commercial zones.
