Unorganised workers in Tripura continue to face multiple challenges and remain deprived of basic government support, said Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha at the state conference of the All Tripura Unorganised Workers Congress held on Friday. The event took place at Sakhi Charan School in the state capital, Agartala.
Addressing the gathering, Saha stated that despite several appeals made earlier to the state government, the concerns and demands of unorganised workers have largely been ignored. As a result, the workers are now preparing to intensify their movement to secure their rights and ensure government attention.
Saha highlighted the dire condition of unorganised workers across the state, pointing out that they are not receiving any of the benefits or support schemes meant for their welfare. “For years, these workers have been excluded from government facilities. Their lives remain unstable and insecure,” he added.
The conference was attended by Dr. Adit Raj, Chairman of the All Tripura Unorganised Workers Congress, who was present as the chief guest. The event brought together a significant number of workers from different parts of the state who shared their grievances and discussed future strategies.
Saha emphasized that the Congress party stands firmly with the unorganised workforce and will support any movement aimed at securing their just demands. “We cannot allow the continuous neglect of such a large section of the workforce. A broader, state-wide agitation is on the horizon,” he asserted.
The conference concluded with a strong call for unity among workers and a commitment to escalate the fight for rights, social security, and fair treatment from the government. The leadership vowed to take the workers’ voices to the highest levels and press for immediate action.
