Agartala, May 18:
In a landmark step to enhance support systems for the state’s civil servants, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Civil Services Officers’ Institute (CSOI) at Kunjaban, Agartala.
The initiative, pegged at over Rs. 31 crore, aims to provide modern amenities and a collaborative space for officers and their families. A blood donation camp was also held to mark the occasion.
The event was attended by top officials including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Anurag Dhankar, PCCF R.K. Shyamal, and Secretary Kiran Kumar Gitte.
Praising the project as a long-awaited facility, the Chief Minister said the institute will house a library, wellness centre, recreational spaces, food court, and venues for training programs, seminars, and conferences.
Urging for timely completion within two years, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of quality construction and administrative excellence. “The idea was inspired by similar institutions in other states. When the proposal came, I didn’t want to delay it,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the vital role of civil servants in upholding public trust, especially beyond political divisions, and applauded their contributions during key events like the G20 summit, NEC plenary session, and the recent flood crisis.
Dr. Saha expressed pride in the increasing participation of women in civil services and underlined the importance of integrity and dedication in governance, which he believes will elevate Tripura’s global profile.
He also announced a significant rise in the state budget from Rs. 27,000 crore to over Rs. 32,000 crore, attributing the increase to transparent administration and continued central support under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
In a firm message, the CM urged All India Services officers to return to Tripura on time post-deputation and avoid seeking extensions through influence.
Meantime, addressing the gathering Chief Secretary JK Sinha highlighted that changed work culture in the state and the role of Civil Service officials in nation building.
Special appreciation was extended to Secretary of Good Governance Kiran Gitte, credited for initiating the CSOI project. Dr. Saha hailed the institute as a “milestone for Team Tripura” and a strong step toward administrative reform and development.
