Agartala: April 20: To mark the first annual conference of the Government Medical Laboratory Technology Employees Association, a voluntary blood donation camp was held today at the auditorium of Agartala GB Hospital. The event saw active participation and was graced by several dignitaries.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar attended the camp as the chief guest, along with Health Department Director Tapan Majumdar and Association General Secretary Utpal Chakma. Other notable officials and health workers were also present to show their support and encouragement.
A total of 45 individuals voluntarily donated blood during the camp, showcasing strong community spirit and commitment to a humanitarian cause. In his speech, Mayor Deepak Majumdar applauded the initiative, stressing the life-saving importance of blood donation. “Blood donation saves lives—this is not just a slogan, but a reality,” he stated, urging everyone to recognize the vital role such efforts play in the healthcare system.
The mayor also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their noble contribution and praised the organizers for hosting the event. He emphasized that such acts of selflessness set a powerful example and help foster a culture of compassion and social responsibility. He encouraged more people, especially the youth, to come forward in the future to support similar causes.
Director Tapan Majumdar and Utpal Chakma also appreciated the volunteers and underlined the importance of strengthening medical support systems through consistent blood donation drives.
