Agartala: Mar 07: In a bold move to demand accountability, left-wing youth organizations in Tripura, including the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Tripura Students Union (TSU), have taken to the streets to protest against what they claim is an attempt to suppress the investigation into the ongoing TMC corruption scandal. These organizations are calling for an impartial and swift investigation into the alleged financial irregularities that have shaken the state.
SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb addressed reporters, highlighting a significant corruption scandal believed to be linked to the education sector in Tripura. He stated that serious allegations had been made against a teacher at the state’s medical college, where it is claimed that students who had failed were passed in exchange for bribes. This incident has caused a stir in the state, particularly in the educational community, raising questions about the integrity of academic processes.
Deb pointed out that, despite the gravity of the allegations, the medical college authorities have yet to form a committee to investigate the matter. What further raised suspicions, according to Deb, is the Chief Minister and Education Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, seemingly refusing to address the issue publicly. The lack of a proper response from the government has fueled accusations that the investigation is being deliberately suppressed.
The SFI and TSU have expressed their frustration with what they see as the government’s reluctance to confront the corruption scandal head-on, particularly in light of the Chief Minister’s alleged attempts to protect his own interests amid the controversy. The left-wing youth organizations have now escalated their protests, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure that justice is served and the integrity of the education system is upheld.
